What is WatCV?

WatCV is an initiative at the University of Waterloo that looks to help students across programs recognize and articulate the professional skills that they gain throughout their experiences and coursework.

Below is an overview of my WatCV assignments and highlighted skills, in which I reflect upon the challenges I have faced within my coursework, and the competencies I inherently practiced when overcoming them to achieve a successful outcome.

Critical thinking

Contrarily, in I analyzed my lack of critical thinking skills while working as part of my ARBUS 400 group. This reflection discusses how I could have used my critical thinking to help my team produce better results in our capstone business simulation.

Decision making

I used my decision-making skills when choosing a Service Term Learning Project (SLTP) topic in my ARBUS 300 group.

Initiative

I took initiative while working in my ARBUS 400 group on a capstone business simulation called CAPSIM.

Leadership

I used my leadership skills within my role as Outreach Manager for TEDxUW's 2016 Executive Team.

Professional Skills Growth

I practiced my responsibility, teamwork, decision making and oral communication skills by participating in ARBUS 400 for four months.

Problem solving

I used my problem solving skills when trying to complete an assignment for my DAC 400 course.

Responsibility

I practiced responsibility while completing my assigned tasks for my ARBUS 300 SLTP project.

Teamwork

I used my teamwork skills when participating in a peer review activity for my DAC 400 class.

Written communication

I used my written communication skills in my INTEG 320/321 course sequence, which required students to work in groups on an 8-month long collaborative project.
